Malaysia Awards RM184.27 Million Highway Link Construction Contract in Perak

Introduction

Malaysia has awarded a major road construction contract in Perak, advancing connectivity between key expressways in the Kinta district. The project, tendered under JKR/CKUB/23309/2025 [Addendum], has been awarded to Senghoti Technologies Sdn. Bhd., with works scheduled to commence on 13 January 2026 and complete by 12 January 2029.

Contract Details

The contract covers the construction of a new connecting road linking Lebuh Raya Meru (FT240) to the Ipoh–Lumut Expressway (FT005) at Jelapang, a strategic node for regional traffic flow.

  • Contract value - RM 184,271,699.40

  • Start date - 13 January 2026

  • Completion date - 12 January 2029

  • Location - Jelapang, Kinta District, Perak

  • Scope - Construction of a highway connector to improve access, reduce congestion, and enhance logistics efficiency

The project is expected to involve extensive civil works, including earthworks, pavements, drainage, structures, and traffic management systems.

Awarded Contractor

Senghoti Technologies Sdn. Bhd. secured the contract following the tender process administered by Malaysia’s Public Works Department (JKR). The firm will deliver the project over a three-year construction period, in line with national standards for highway development.

Project Significance

This awarded tender is strategically important for Perak’s transport infrastructure, improving east-west mobility and easing bottlenecks around Ipoh’s northern approaches. By providing a direct connection between FT240 and FT005, the project is expected to shorten travel times, support industrial and commercial activity, and enhance road safety.

At a national level, the contract reflects continued public investment in Malaysian road projects, supporting economic growth, construction sector employment, and long-term network resilience.

Conclusion

With construction set to begin in January 2026, the project enters a critical implementation phase that will shape traffic patterns in the Kinta district for years to come. The award underscores the steady pipeline of government contracts and tender results in Malaysia’s civil engineering sector, particularly in high-value road and highway developments.
