Publication Date: 26-Sep-2022 Expression of Interest Deadline: 03-Oct-2022 Assignment Description The development of a healthy and thriving private sector is a key engine of economic growth and employment. In response to the rapid escalation of the spread of COVID- 19 throughout the globe, collecting data on the impact of the Covid-19 on the private firms has been of fundamental importance, not only to understand how the virus is affecting the productive structure of an economy but also to actively contribute to policy solutions to restore businesses and build up their resilience and competitiveness. To this end the World Bank is conducted Business PULSE survey in a number of countries to measure adjustment and expectation to the covid-19 pandemic including Malaysia. The objective is to continue to conduct these surveys with specific modules to study the impact of various global trends on Malaysian firms. 2. Objectives The Business Pulse Survey would be conducted as a quick online survey using a simple survey instrument. This survey would capture the following information and each survey will have a special module on specific areas of interest for policy making: o Operational status (current status, business continuity plans, revenue/sales trends, employment changes); o Types of operational disruptions (input market disruptions, demand slowdown, mobility restrictions, worker productivity); o Adjustment mechanisms (use of digital platforms, new investments in equipment or software, remote work, other business processes); o Business sentiment (expected sales, employment and investment trajectories); o Reach of government interventions (program awareness, participation and benefit amounts)
